Bobby has a family bible in which there are two quotes of note: "George TARRANT, our father, died Aug. 1906 in Norfolk, VA." "Zola Helen died Sept. 17, 1938, Saturday AM, Emergency Hosp. Wash. DC. 1873-1938 65 yrs." One story Bobby tells is of Olie living with Rose and Stew on 19th Street, Washington, DC in 1935. Olie was a plasterer and on payday he would have envelopes for each man laid out on the dining room table. He would place cash in each envelope to pay the men. Olie and Stew went to a turkey shoot and won a live turkey. The house had a huge basement with a post in the center. Rose put the turkey in the basement attached to the post with a leash. She would feed and pet the turkey so come Thanksgiving Stew had to take the turkey to the butcher shop and trade it in as Rose could not kill or eat her pet.
