    Obituary

    Robert Byron Buckhout, a lifelong resident of Upper Nyack died Saturday, July 4, 2009 at the age of 77. He was the son of Ralph Sr. and Katherine Buckhout. He was a graduate of Nyack High School in 1949. He served as a sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War from November 1952 to October 1954. He also graduated from the American Institute of Banking and the New York State Bankers Executive School. He played 10 years of semi-pro baseball and many years of Rockland County softball. he served faithfully at Old Stone Church for many years, was a 50 plus year member of Empire Hook & Ladder and past president of Nyack Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. He was a retired officer of Marine Midland Bank and lectured on baseball history and early American history. He is survived by his wife Brenda of 51 years, brother Ralph of New City, daughter Lynne Stingo of Deer Park, LI; son Andrew of Greenville, SC; son James of Upper Nyack; grandchildren Ashley and Chad of Greenville, SC. Robert was predeceased by his brother Leroy in 2005. Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Living Christ Church located at the corner of South Broadway and Voorhis Ave. in South Nyack. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack. Empire H&L Co. #1 will hold a Firematic Service on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Empire Hook & Ladder of Upper Nyack or Living Christ Church of South Nyack.
