Obituary State Center Newspaper June 9, 1960 "Wesley Maynard Fatally Injured in Tractor Mishap" "Richard Wesley Maynard 40, was the victim of a tractor accident Saturd ay night when he was apparently thrown from the machine on a country ro ad about 3 miles southeast of State Center. "Investigating authorities said Mr. Maynard may have been run over by t he machine, which continued running, and was found in a grove some distan ce from the body. The body was found Sunday morning in a ditch, after D on Nolta, by whom Maynard was employed, had notified Marshall county offic ers he was missing. The Marshall county coroner said Mr. Maynard suffer ed a crushed head and chest. "Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at ten o'clock from the Wens el Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. John Perry of Eldora. Burial w as in Hillside cemetery. "Pall bearers were George Buck, Carroll Wykle, Don Nolta and Dan Shortly. "Mrs. John Maynard, mother of the victim, has passed away just a week prev ious at a local nursing home. "Richard Wesley Maynard was born August 9, 1919 at State Center, a s on of John and Cecile Worrell Maynard. He grew up and received his educat ion in the local schools. He was unmarried. "He is survived by four brothers and four sisters: Lee of Ridgefield, W A, Raymond of New Providence, Theron of Rochester, MN, William of Hubbar d; Mrs. Leon Bodie of Rhodes; Mrs. Lee Nolta of Melbourne; Mrs. Joseph Mil ler of Casper, WY and Mrs. Kenneth Runberg of Wichita, KS. "He was preceded in death by his parents."
