Norwich, Conn. 15 Apr. 1750/1, dau. of Thomas and Hannah (Warner) Welles of Wethersfield. She was named in the dist. of her father's est. as 'Mrs. Prudence Bushnell wife of Richard Bushnell of Norwich, Conn.' and in her will, dated 6 Apr. 1791, she mentioned her 'kinswoman Lydia Bushnell, wife of Jabez Bushnell, of Norwich, Conn.' who was a daughter of her brother David Welles of Wethersfield, Conn. … Capt. Richard Bushnell was appointed Quartermaster in 3rd Conn. Regt. 12 Oct. 1749, Cornetist, 7 May 1750, Lieut, and on 9 Feb. 1757, Capt. of a troop of horse in the same Regt. Their children were all b. in Norwich, Conn. and he and his wife Prudence were bur. in the cem. of Christ Episcopal Church there."
