"611 … Prudence (Welles); perhaps b. bef. 1725 if she was 23 years old at her marriage. She married 25 Oct 1748 (Wethersfield first Congregational Church Records, slip index citing JL:12, which provides only the surname of her husband; his given name comes from her father's probate records) Richard Bushnell. 'In a will dated 6 Apr 1791 Prudence Bushnell of Norwich, widow of Richard Bushnell, gave a piece of land 'lying on Black bird pond' to my kinswoman Mrs. Lydia Bushnell wife of Jabez Bushnell of Norwich.… The town clerk of Wethersfield told Mr. Standish that Blackbird Pond lay below the Town Hall and nearer the river' (Welles (1968) 3:3)."
