«i»I am 44 years old, a housekeeper and my post office address is Willshire, Van Wert Co., Ohio.

I was acquainted with Alfred O Gibbs (the pensioner) and his wife Emma Gibbs at Summertown, Tenn. and Gibbs died there in September 1881.

Mr. Alfred O Gibbs and his wife Emma had a son Ralph James Gibbs, who was about 2 1/2 years at the time of Alfred father's death.

My husband and I took out papers a Lawrenceburg, Lawrence County, Tenn. about two weeks after the soldier's death to have said Ralph James Gibbs adopted as our son, and since then he has born our name. We have no papers to show the adoption of said son but you will find the record at Lawrenceburg, Tenn.«/i»
