Spouse: Eugene Malaise (1842 - 1910) ---------------------------- Rachel McDonald was born at Casville, Grant county, Wis., January 22, 1840. She passed from this life at the home of her step-son, Edward, November 28, 1921, age 81 years, 10 months, 6 days.
She came to Iowa with her parents in 1877 and had lived in the vicinity for upward of 44 years. In 1913 she united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Woolstock under the ministry of Rev. Welch. Her Christian life has been an outstanding characteristic.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Eugene Malaise, who preceded her in death May 10, 1910. She is survived by one brother, A. L. McDonald of Eagle Grove, four stepchildren, George, Edward, Edmond, and Anna Malaise of Woolstock, and seven grandchildren. Also the following nephews and nieces: Fannie M. Burns, Lancaster. Wis., Margaret Norman, Roseau, Minn,; Nettle Claude, Woolstock, Iowa, Eugene Claude, Bend, Oregon; Myrtle McDonald, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Cora E. Floyd, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Mary Fulton, Rapid City, S. D.; John McDonald, Mellen, Oregon; Charles McDonald, Clinton, Iowa; Laurene Anderson, Ames, Iowa; and a large number of friends.
Services were held at the French Lutheran church last Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Piper of Woolstock, and the body was laid to rest in the beautiful adjoining cemetery.
