Facts and Events
Priscilla Swallow was born on 19th April 1816 at Harpenden in Hertfordshire, daughter of Susannah Swallow, formerly Dearmer, and her husband George Swallow, a labourer. Priscilla appears in the 1841 census working as a straw plaiter and living with her mother and a three year old boy called Charles Swallow, who may have been her son, at Pimlico Row in Harpenden. Priscilla died the following year as a young woman of 25 years old, being buried at Harpenden on 6th April 1842, although the burial register says that she was living in the St Albans Union Workhouse (in the parish of St Albans St Michael) immediately prior to her death. There was also a one year old Sophia Swallow buried alongside her at Harpenden on 6th April 1842, who was also described as having lived in the workhouse.
