Peter was born as Pieter Steegenga on 3 December 1878 in Wonseradeel, Friesland (birthcertifcate # A412)

Last rites will be held this afternoon (Thursday) for Peter Stegenga, 69, who died at his home here Monday of this week. Services will be held at the home and 1:30 and at the Christian Reformed church at 2 p.m. Dr. H . Kuiper will officiate. Peter Stegenga. was born in Friesland, Holland on December 6, 1878 and spent his boyhood there. Just before he left Holland in 1907, he was married to Trinyte Ploegstra. The newly weds came directly to Sioux county upon arrival in the United States and Mr. Stegenga engaged in farming near Hull for a period of nine years. He next moved to a farm north of Rock Valley and engaged in farming in this area until 1941, at which time he moved into town. Born to the Stegengas were six children, one deceased in infancy. Survivors include his widow, three daughters and two sons. The children are as follows: Otto of Rock Valley; Lena (Mrs. Shirk Jouwstra) of Tyler, Minn. Jessie Mrs. John Mulder) of Rock Valley, Richard and Gertrude of Rock Valley. A brother, Frank of Holland, Michigan, also survives. Mr. Stegenga was a member of the Christian Reformed church here.
