Funeral services for Mrs. Peter Stegenga, 72, were held Tuesday, September 6, at 1 o'clock in the home and at 1:30 in the Christian Reformed church, with Dr. Herman Kuiper officiating. Mrs. Stegenga died Saturday morning, after a short illness. Mrs. Stegenga was born at Friesland, The Netherlands, April 17, 1877. She was married to Peter Stegenga in May, 1909. They came to the United States in 1909 and resided in Hull for a number of years and then came to Rock Valley. Survivors include five children Otto Stegenga of Chester, S. D. Lena (Mrs. Shirk Jouwstra) of Tyler, Minnesota, Jessie (Mrs John Mulder), Richard Stegenga and Gertrude Stegenga, the last three of Rock Valley. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death, having died February 23 1948.
