In the 1860 census for Noblesville, Hamilton Co., Indiana, Philip Stoops is 57 born Kentucky, farmer; with Margaret 47 KY; William W. 27 Indiana; John H. 15; Mary 12 IN; and [half-brother?] Jesse 40 clerk from Kentucky; Philip L. 25 IN farmer; and [daughter-in-law?] Sarah 18 IN. {p. 233 & 234} He is next door to Jane Stoops 49 KY with Nancy 22 IN -- possibly the widow and child of his half-brother James. Margaret is listed as a widow in 1870. |
