m. Abt 1830
Facts and Events
He was discharged from the Battalion Wing Company, Bodyguard Regiment of the Grand Duke of Hessen, 1 April 1825, at the age of 28. He was supposed to have been the tallest man in the Duke's army and to have attained the highest rank open to non-nobility. Stephen P. Hill has a copy (1996) of the discharge certificate. He was a tailor. I have no information about the ancestors of Peter Strauch, but the name Strauch, meaning "Bush" in English, is a common one in Germany. |
