According to the birth records in Plymouth County, Iowa the following was reported: Jens, Peter, born 6 June 1888, Lemars, Male, 4th child, son of (mother not given) and Ole Jens, Laborer; father born Denmark, age 35; mother born Denmark, age 35. (Northwest Iowa Pioneers by Stofferan and Warren, Page 73) According to the 1900 Cencsus, Peter was born in June 1889 in Iowa. The family lived at 3039 South 18th Street at that time. In 1907 Peter was listed in the Omaha City Directory as a laborer and lived with the family at the rear of 372 South 24th Street. In 1908 the family lived at the rear of 908 North 28th Street and Peter was listed as a laborer. He became a carpenter. Peter Hans Hensen married a lady named Ethel Hartman. She was born on October 3, 1888 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Her parents were John Hartman and Ella Wilbur. She had a son named Donald Boetel who lived at 1036 South 30th, N.E.. Omaha, Nebraska in 1978 when Ethel died. She had Pneumonia and a week later died Respiratory Arrest due to Congestive Heart Failure. She died on October 18, 1978 and was buried at the Graceland Park Cemetery. She had lived at 1040 South 30th Street prior to her death. She was 90 years old. During the 1940's his health began to fail, as he had pulmonary emphazema and chronic broncial asthma. Peter and Ethel Jensen moved to Denver, Colorado in November 1947 and two months later, on January 25,1948 he was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital where he died 5 hours later. Peter Hans Jensen had a son named Truman H. Jensen who operated a service station in South Omaha for several years. He and his wife, Nellie G. Jensen, lived at 3511 G Street in 1985. References
