From Mrs. Watson Winslow, History of Perquimans County [N.C.] (1931, repr. 1990), pp. 346, 348:

"It is thought that Peter (2) [Evans] moved to Hertford Co., N.C. He sold to Charles Merritt, '1/2 of 600a upon Deep Creek, up Chowanoak River' (Chowan) Mar. 16, 1707. (This land was in Hertford Co.) . . .It seems very certain that his descendants came over to Perquimans, and from them a straight line can be traced. Peter [2] Evans of Bertie, lived near Ahoskie, and sold to William Evans (probably our own William, son of Jonathan) 100a of land on Catawaske Swamp, Hertford Co., April 19, 1715, and also deeded 235a to his son Robert [1], on So. side of Petty Shore (same Co.) on same date. . . ." Peter [2] Evans of Bertie Co. m Sarah Wynn."

From Edna M. Shannonhouse, compiler & ed., Year Book Pasquotank Historical Society, Vol. 4 (1983). p. 179:

"Peter (2) son of Peter [1] of Richmond County, Virginia, grandson of Griffith of Barbadoes?, settled in Bertie County, North Carolina (Peety Shores) and married Sarah Wynn (daughter of George and Rose (Busch) daughter of William Busch and Martha). Peter made will in Bertie County, North Carolina, in 1754 [???] and names son Robert (1), who married Ann Lane, daughter of Christopher and Christiana Lane of Bertie County, North Carolina before 1733. There is a quit claim deed in said county 1733 proving that Robert Evans was a son-in-law of said Christopher Lane. Soon after this date Robert [1] Evans moved to Perquimans County, North Carolina, where he died. His will was probated in Jan. 1758." [sic --Jan. 1758 will was will of Robert [2] Evans; Robert [1] Evans d. bef. May 1745. -- Richard Wilson]

This account has several errors:
The dates don't work for Sarah Wynn to have married this Peter Evans.
Peter's son Robert died in Bertie County before May 1745.
As pointed out by Richard Wilson, the will that was proved in Jan 1758 was the will of a Robert Evans (although it isn't clear who Wilson means by Robert [2] Evans), written 20 Mar 1754 in Perquimans County, North Carolina. Did Peter Evans also write a will in 1754 (in Bertie County) or is this another error in the account?
