Facts and Events
He graduated from St. Ansgar Seminary, St. Ansgar, Iowa, in 1900 and attended Luther College, 1900-01. He was a leading business man in Story City from 1905 until 1949. A clerk at Donhowe Brothers in 1905, he was co-owner of the men's clothing business from 1909 to 1918 when he became a director and cashier of the Story City National Bank, which position he held for five years. In 1923 he purchased the Ford Agency with his nephew, Melburn Donhowe, and for 27 years was co-owner and later sole owner of Donhowe Motor Co. He was vice president of the GCC for seven years, president in 1944-45 and member of the Story City Council for four years. He was on the steering committee which developed plans and raised money for the Story City Memorial Hospital, completed in 1951. He died of cancer in 1950. References
