Childhood

Perle's mother died when he was just months old. He and his older brother, Merle, and were raised in a multi-generational household consisting of their grandparents, Nathan and Rosa RICHARDSON, their aunts Cora and Melvern RICHARDSON, plus themselves small boys. The boys father may or may not have lived there for some time after his wife Ida died. George SHEFFIELD had to make a living and provide for his family and may have likely been overcome with grief and been unable to help with the boys care. Merle and Perle were raised by their grandparents and aunts.

Adulthood

Perle loved the arts, especially theater.
