He was naturalized in Essex County, N.J. on 7 October 1859. He went to California in 1861. He enlisted in the Union Army in San Francisco in 1862. He died of typhoid fever on 27 October 1884 and was buried in the Catholic Cemetery at Smartsville. The records of the Catholic Church at Smartsville indicate that he “had all his sacraments but died rather suddenly.” |
