Orie and Ed Maguire ran a farm in Alton, IL. The farm was gift from Orie's father following the death of Orie's mother, Annie Graydon. When they retired from farming, they moved to Wood River, IL (I think that's the way it worked, Wood River and Alton are neighboring towns.)

At the time of the 1900 census, Orie and Ed were living with Orie's parents in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Ed's occupation was given as painter. Orie was known as a woman of strong determination. At the age of 80, she decided to learn how to drive a car; she reckoned that if she could drive a team of horses, she could drive a car. Orie survived all her brothers and sister, although she was the second oldest (of those who survived infancy). She was much like a second mother to her youngest siblings. Orie died 20 Feb 1963, Wood River or McLean, IL. Ed died before Orie, but was alive in Nov 1958.

Ed Maguire's family had a farm in Alton, IL. They would spoil the grandchildren when they came to visit. [CousinMain.GED]
