Olai came to the U.S.A. in 1883 with his mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He was for some years engaged in farming in Grundy Co., Ill. In 1895 they moved to Story City where he was employed by the Grain & Lumber Co. He had an alcohol problem and Olai left his family in 1901. Little is known of him since then.
