[edit] ObituaryOdes O. Sherer, 62, of 700 Turner died at 9:30 p.m. Monday in his home following an extended illness. He was a former employee of the Nickel Plate Road. Born Dec. 8, 1902, in Van Wert, he was a son of H. Frank and Elnora Sherer. Surviving are his wife, Clara; two sons, Willis of 1356 Stewart Rd. and Wilbur L. of Rt. 5; three daughters, Mrs. Harlow (Oleta) Shaw of 2233 Lima-Gomer Rd., Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Smith of Bluffton and Mrs. Richard (Carol) Oglesbee of Lakeview; three brothers, Howard L. of 750 Holly; James M. of Detroit, and William Merle of 403 S. Central. Five sisters, Mrs. Arnold Stirn of 502 King, Mrs. Arnold Trempert of 590 Lutz Rd.; Mrs. Clara Hughes of 122 1/2 N. Elizabeth; Mrs. Norma Collins of 609 E. Vine and Mrs. Robert Dukro of 404 S. Atlantic; 18 grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Lewis Memorial Chapel of Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Home. Rev. E. J. Penhorwood will officiate and burial will be in Wright Cemetery.
