From the High-River, Alberta,Canada Newspaper Nora Baker (Watrin) Word has been received of the death Jan 17 of Nora S. A. Baker (nee Watrin) beloved wife of Albert M. Baker of Spokane, Washington. U.S.A. Born in Fairbanks, Iowa she came to Canada with her parents in 1909, residing in and around High River until 1926 when they returned to the U.S.A. She is survived by her husband Albert; three daughters, Mrs. Elvera Essex and Mrs. Romona (Max) Kunze, Mrs. Alfreda (Roger) Cormier, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Viola Cooper, High-River, Mrs. Margaret (Edwin) Howery, Millet, Alta., Mrs. Pearl (John) Bews, Calgary and Mrs. Vera (Hank) Marens, High River; three brothers, Clarence Watrin, Lethbridge, Eddie Watrin, Bluffton, and Lawrence Watrin, High River and several nieces and newphews. Funeral services were held from St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Spokane by Rev. Father James OMalley. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Mark and Roy Smith. Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park in Enumclaw, Washington. [Obit: From the Enumclaw; The Courier-Hrald Newspaper] Nora S. Baker Mrs. Nora Sarah Ann Baker beloved wife of Albert M. Baker formerly of Renton, Washington, passed away in Spokane Valley General Hospital on January 17, after a long illness. She was born January 26, 1896, at Fairbanks, Iowa. When she was 13, the family moved to High-River, Alberta, Canada. She married Albert Baker in 1923, then moved to Oklahoma. In 1937 they moved to make Washington their permanent home. Moving to Spokane in 1975 with their daughter and Grandson, Elvera and Albert Essex. She was a member of St. Antony's Catholic Church and Alter Society of Renton for numerous years. She came from a large family of 21 children. She was predeceased by two sons, Daniel Leland and Leo Albert, six sisters and six brothers. Surviving are her husband and three daughters, Mrs. Elvera Essex and Mrs. Romona (Max) Kunze of Spokane, and Mrs. Alfreda (Roger) Cormier of Enumclaw; 12 grandchldren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors are five sisters, Mrs. Clara (John) Brennan, of Sun City, Iowa, Mrs. Viola Cooper of High-River, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Margaret (Ed) Howery, of Miller, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Pearl (John) Bews of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Elvera (Hank) Martens, of High-River, Alberta, Canada , Edwin Watrin of Bluffton, Alberta,Canada. |
