Watrin dies 68 years of age Mrs. Lucinda Watrin of High River passed away in the Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary, on March 23, following a short illness. She was 68 years of age. Her birthplace was Oelwein, Iowa, and she married J.N. Watrin in 1894. The family lived in Minnesota from 1902- 1909, at which time they moved to High River district. Surviving relatives are three sons and 7 daughters. They are Clarence and Lawrence of High River and Eddie of Bragg Creek; Mrs. B. Kemery, Mrs. A.J. Cooper and Mrs. Hank Martens of High River; Mrs. A. Baker of Washington; Mrs. John Cooper, Minnesota; Mrs. Margaret MacIntosh, Calgary; Mrs. John Bews, Longview. Forty-three grandchildren also survive. Mr. Watrin died in 1916. A son, Leo and a daughter Florence, died within one month of each other in the fall of 1930. Mrs. Watrin was widowed in 1916, she capably assumed the work of carrying on the farm and bringing up her large family of children. Sons of the family won fame throughout the Canadian and American west, for their rodeo skill. They held a great many championships before they retired from the rodeo world. Requiem mass was said by Rev. Father Bowlen in St. Francis church on Thursday, March 27 at 10 a.m. Interment was in the Okotoks Cemetery, with arrangements in charge of the Snodgrass Funeral Home.
