  2. The gravestone says the birth is 13 Aug 1842, but the 1860 census says Nathaniel is 16 (b. 1844), one year younger than his brother Charles. The first marriages in 1865 gives his age as 21 (b. 1844). his second marriage in 1887 gives his age as 36 (b. 1851). His first and second marriage record give his birth location as Freetown, and if the gravestone date of 13 Aug is assumed wrong only in the year, i.e. 13 Aug 1844, he could be the unnamed male child born in Freetown on 12 Aug 1844 (here). On the other hand, his older brother Charles is born in New Bedford as are the two sisters born after him. There is a general discussion of the confusing records for this family at here, and this is one of the parts of that.
