    Longtime resident of Ridgecrest, CA and career employee at China Lake's Naval Ordnance Test Station (NOTS)/Naval Weapons Center(NWC)/Naval Air Warfare Center-Weapons Division(NAWC-WD), Monsie Rane Stanley, Jr. passed away of natural causes in Reno, NV on 8 Feb 2010.
    Born on 19 Nov 1921 in Vivian, WVA toi parents Monsie Rane Stanley Sr. and Minnie Firth Stanley, Monsie enlisted soon after his high school graduation to become a member of the Army's 504th Military Police Battalion. He was involved in WWII campaigns in Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno; Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe with Monsie awarded a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Medals, a Bronze Arrowhead for amphibious landings and numerous combat ribbons.
    After returning from Europe his home state of West Virginia to marry Muriel Anita Hurt in 1946, Monsie, Muriel and their first son, Brad, traveled through the southwest in the early 1950's to become a China Lake Police Officer in 1952. "Stan" as he was known, completed the apprentice program studies to become an instrumentation and telemetry engineering technician, working primarily in the old Code 40, Supersonic Naval Ordnance Research Track (SNORT), and Naval Air Facility (NAF) prior to his retirement in 1980, and working as a contractor at Planning Research Corporation.
    As an avid outdoorsman, he pursued camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends and served several years as an Indian Wells Valley Little League coach and President. Monsie and Muriel moved to Reno in 2007 to be near their sons and their families.
    Preceded in death by his parents and brother Raymond Stanley, Monsie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Muriel Anita Stanley; two sons. Brad (Sharon) Stanley and Greg (Jane) Stanley; two grandchildren, Dillon (Bart) Lambert and Dustin Stanley; two great-grandchildren, Jillian and Lucas Lambert; brother Joe (Verna) Stanley; sister Carrie Peake; and sister-in-law Mosha Hurt.
