Henry Joseph "Joe" Stanley, age 94, of the Summers County Nursing and Rehab Center, Hilldale, W.Va., formerly of Princeton, W.Va. and Eckman, W.Va. went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning at the nursing home after a short illness. Born Jan. 10, 1918 in Blue Jay, W.Va., he was the son of the late Muncie Stanley and Minnie Susan Frith Stanley. He was affiliated with the Protestant Faith, was a retired electrician and electrical engineer from Eastern Associated Coal Keystone No. 1 with 46 years of service. He was a resident of McDowell County most of his life and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Verna Mae Burnette Stanley on Feb. 22, 2010; two brothers, Muncie Stanley Jr., and Raymond Stanley; and one sister, Carrie Peake Stanley.

He is survived by two sons, Robert A. "Bob" Stanley and wife, Helen, of Princeton, W.Va.; James Wayne Stanley and wife, Stella, of Bland, Va.; three grandchildren, Robin Ann Stanley of Bloomington, Ill., Susan Stanley of Roanoke, Va., Robert Joseph Stanley of Bland, Va.; a sister-in-law, Muriel Stanley of Ridge Crest, Calif.; three nephews, Brad Stanley of Reno, Nev., Greg Stanley of Ridge Crest, Calif., Brian Peake of Kentucky; and one niece, Susan Peake of Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 22, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel, Northfork, W.Va. with the Rev. Mark Smearman officiating. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bluewell, W.Va. Friends may call on Friday at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

Arrangements are by Widener Funeral Home, Northfork, W.Va.
