Monica died of diphtheria at the age of 7 years.

Monica's obituary reads, "GERARDOT. Private funeral services for Monica Ann Gerardot, 7, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gerardot, who died of diphtheria early Monday morning at the residence on U. S. road No. 30, east of Besancon Catholic Church, were held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Besancon church, Rev. Joseph Hession officiating. Burial was made in the Besancon cemetery. Survivors include the parents; six sisters, Mrs. Delores Lamont of New Haven and Eileen, Mary, Rita, Juanita and Jacqueline Gerardot, all at home, and three brothers, Manfred, Wilbur and George Gerardot at home. She is buried at the Besancon Cemetery at St. Louis Catholic Church in New Haven, Indiana.
