Minnie Maud Lake, daughter of William H. and Rachel Lake, was born near Liberty Center, Warren county, Iowa, August 11, 1870, and departed this life March 9, 1933, at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 26 days.
She was united in marriage to William A. Turner, December 18, 1894. To this union four children were born. Arlo Paul, Melvin Lee, Katie Ellen and Roy Andrew, all of whom were at her bedside at the time of her death.
Her husband preceded her in death July 28, 1924. Her father died when she was quite young and her mother later married Albert Davis, who was a real father to her and the only father she ever knew. Her Mother died in 1915.
She united with the First Otter Creek Christian Church and was baptized March 11, 1915 by Rev. Martin Fitzgerald. She continued a faithful member until her death.
She was a patient suffer, greeting each of her loved ones always with a smile, and they did all that was humanly possible to prolong her life.
Those left to mourn her passing besides the three sons and one daughter are six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Thorn and Mrs. Ida Proctor, one sister-in-law Mrs. Mary Smith, her step-father Albert Davis and one half-brother Murray Davis, besides other relatives and a host of friends. One sister preceded her in death.
Largely attended funeral services conducted by Elder James Robinson of Lacona were held at the Christian Neck Church March 11, 1933, with burial in Hendrickson cemetery.
