        " FOUND DEAD IN SHACK POLICE PROBING CIRCUMSTANCES IN CASE"
         Police and Coroner Rorke are investigating the circumstancesurrounding the death of Milton Corbit, a resident of the eighteenthward, whose body was found this morning in a shack located at Heister'sBoat Landing, near the Bingaman Street Bridge.
          Corbit, whose age was given as 54 years, had spent Tuesdaynight in the  frame building in the company of two male friends it wassaid, at 5:55AM today when Sargeant Eickel and a police detective gainedentrance to the shack, following a report made to the police authoritiesby a woman residing on South Sixth St., that a man was lying in a housealong the river, they made the discovery.
           Two companions of Corbit, said to have been sleeping alongside the dead man, although unaware of his death, were taken into custodyby the police. The men were questioned at police headquarters, where theyare being detained, pending the outcome of a complete investigation.
           The belief that the man succumbed to acute alcoholism wasadvanced. Coroner Rorke, who was notified by the police, is at work onthe case to determine the actual cause of Corbit's death.
            When found, Corbit was fully dressed, It is thought that hedied several hours before the discovery was made by the police.
             Corbit was married. His wife, living in this city. Theremains were removed to the retaining rooms of Undertaker Auman.


         FUNERAL ARTICLE IN SUNDAY EAGLE DATED April 29 1923
         Rev Dr J. V. George conducted services at the funeral of MiltonE.(sic) Corbit, of the Eighteenth Ward, held from the apartments ofUndertaker Auman. The remains were attired in black and rested in an oakcasket with silver trimmings. Interment in the Charles. Evans Cemetery.
        Milton served in the army of the United states first with "C"Co. 12th US Inf and then later in the 42nd Coastal Artillery Co   Hiswife Ida applied for a pension Aug 16, 1923. The application # wass1209203 and the certificate was 9442121.
