Notes from download #288 It is obvious tht Michael could not be a son of John . . most feasible solution also lies with family legend stating that Adam immigrated accompanied by two brothers...they would have both been under age 16 in 1730 in order to not be listed in the ship's manifest. Considering that we have a birthdate for Michael of about 1742 this would have been about 12 years after the immigration, therefore any brother to Adam who was at least 5 years of age at the crossing would have been old enough to father Michael in 1742. Notes from David Eddinger about Micheal Shuler: "His Fathr was John Shuler. It is believed that he migrated to Rowan Co NC about 1775. His name appears on Rowan County Tax Rolls for the years 1778, 83, 84 and 85. Nov 10, 1786 Rowan Couonty Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions: Michael Shuler was called for Grand Jury duty along with Christian Eddinger on Feb 7 1787. They both served on the Grand Jury for that term." Sept 2002 "There are many Shulers living in Davidson, and I suppose that all of them are descended from Michael. His son Peter was very prolific and his family is scattered all over the U.S. One of the children of Daniel Shuler, Jr. lived to be almost a hundred years old. I can remember reading a story about him in the Thomasville newspaper." David Eddinger Sat, Sep 7, 2002

"Family legend states that Adam Shuler immigrated to America in 1730 accompanied by two brothers..they would have both been under age 16 in 1730 in order to not be listed in the ship's manifest. One of these brothers of Adam Shuler must have been the father of Michael Nicholas.

Michael Nicholas Shuler's birth date is sometimes given as 1742 but if he was the father of Michael Nicholas Jr (born 9 Mar 1759 in New Hanover, Pa) then Michael Nicholas Sr was probably born 1739 or earlier. He moved to Towan County NC sometime between 1775-1780. Listed in the 1790 Census for Rowan Co NC together with Peter Shuler."http://wc.rootweb.com/cgl-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=kbkeeley&id=19663"Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project: Shulers and Related Families"
