NOTES OF INTEREST

Morris spelled and pronounced his given name "M-0-R-R-I-S", as remembered by neices and nephews, in the 1880 census and in his Last Will and Testament. However, in the family bible it was spelled "MAURICE" , as it was spelled by several of his WADDELL ancestors from North Carolina. Morris is remembered as being somewhat of a "rounder". He was fun-loving, and seemed to enjoy life and the people around him. Morris was not listed in the 1900 census with his family so he must have lived and worked away from home for awhile. We know that he did live and work on the farm most of his life. Morris married late in life to Lily COKER. They had no children. Morris died at age 78. Waddell PETTIGREW, nephew to Morris said that he is buried in the WADDELL-POWERS family cemetery located on a hill in a pasture just south of Wesson, MS. There is no marker.
