Facts and Events
Maud Eveline Timothy was born in 1888 at St Helens in Lancashire, daughter of Anne Webb and Peter Vincent Timothy, a physician and surgeon. Maud's parents were not married at the time, and so her birth was actually registered as Maud Eveline Timothy Webb, although she does not appear to have used the surname Webb after her birth. Maud's father was not free to marry her mother as he had a wife from whom he was separated. Maud had eight surviving older half-siblings from her father's first marriage, although as they lived with their mother it seems unlikely that Maud had much, if any, contact with them. Maud's parents did eventually marry in 1905, after her father's first wife had died.
The family moved frequently through Maud's childhood. Shortly after her birth they moved to Wigan, where another two children were born in 1890 and 1891 and where the family appeared in the 1891 census living at 95 Wallgate. By 1893 they had left Lancashire and moved down to Essex, where they had a daughter in 1893 and a son in 1895. They then briefly returned to Lancashire, having a daughter in Manchester in 1896. By 1900 they were living at Longton in Staffordshire, where one of Maud's younger brothers died aged five, and where the family appear in the 1901 census living at 50 Uttoxeter Road. The family finally settled around 1903 in Great Yarmouth on the Norfolk coast.
Maud learned to play the piano, and is mentioned several times in local newspapers between 1907 and 1910 as passing various examinations.
Sadly Maud died as a young woman early in 1911, aged 23. Her parents both survived her.

Although there is a place called St Anne's in Lancashire, it does not fall within the Prescot Registration District where Maud's birth was registered. In 1901 Maud gave her place of birth as St Helen's, which was within the Prescot district at the time of her birth.
