Facts and Events
Matthew married Frances Burnett about 1790 in Henry County, then moved with his parents to Wayne County, Kentucky in the early 1800s. By the 1830s, he owned a 27-acre patent received in 1811, 150 acres purchased from Thomas Smally in 1812, 12 acres purchased from James Tuttle in 1824, and one other 50-acre patent from the state of Kentucky. He conveyed part of the larger tract to his son John in 1815, but the rest was sold at auction to satisfy a judgment against him, Jeremiah Morrow, and John Morrow in favor of James Clement for $128.[1] Matthew and Frances are still living in 1843 when her brother Isaac Burnett agreed to "take charge of and provide for Matthew Morrow & wife poor persons of this County." He was provided $20 from county coffers.[2] They do not appear in his 1850 household. [edit] Census
