Facts and Events
Name[1] Matilda le Brun
Alt Name Matilda de Hunstanton
Unknown Maud le Brun
Gender Female
Birth? Abt 1100 Norfolk, England
Marriage to Roland Lestrange

Mathilda is clearly mentioned by her son and heir John Lestrange as his mother, but this is the only mention of her by name in a primary record.

Eyton explains the evidence which has been widely accepted since his time, that John le Strange, Maud`s son and heir, became to her brother Reginald le Brun. That evidence did not name Maud herself, but Eyton concludes that it is the only reasonable conclusion to draw that she is Reginald´s sister, with both of them being children of Ralph de Hunstanton, who Eyton equates with Ralph fitz Herlewin of Domesday holding some of the same manors.
