Will of Masquil Manring
Entered for Probate on 04 Nov 1841:
In the name of God, Amen. I Masquil Manering of the county of
Gallia in the state of Ohio, being weak in body, but of sound mind
and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the
uncertainty of the timethereof and beign desirous to settle my
worldly affairs to therefore make and publish this my last Will and
Testament in the manner and form following (that is to say) First,
I will order and direct that my funeral charges and just debts be
fully paid and satisfied and so much of my personal property be
sold by my executrix as will effect that purpose and no more.
Second, I give and bequeath unto my wife, Sarah Manering the use
occupancy and pofsefsion of all my real estate for and during her
natural life time to be used and at her disgression without set or
hindrance only to be debarred from cutting and carrying off or
selling timber or fruit trees but to use the same for her own
comfort and support and repairs of the farm. Thirdly, and fir the
better support and maintenance of my said wife, Sarah Mannering, I
give and bequeath unto her all my personal property for and during
her natural life time, the free use of the same and at her death
such of the said personal property as is in the house and generally
called household and kitchen furniture and not consumed for her
support including Beds & c to be the property ofmy two daughters,
Sarah Manering and Lydia Manering forever. And the residue and
remainder of the personal property that may be left at the death
of my said wife to be equally divided between all my other children
no named especially. Fourthly, I give and devise unto my two
youngest sons (to wit) Samuel R. Manering and Masquil Manering all
my real estate to come to the pofsefsion of the same after the
death of my said wife on this exprefs condition that they, the said
Samuel R. and Masquil pay or cause to be paid the yearly taxes
assessed on said land during the lifetime of my said wife. And
lastly,I hereby constitute and appoint my said wife, Sarah Manering
to be sole executrix of this my last will and testament revoking
all former wills by me made. In witnefs whereof I havee hereunto
set my hand and seal this the 7th day of Sep 1841.
