Jordan Manring's Estate
Filed Gallia County, Ohio, 27 Dec 1837
No will is mentioned, but it does not say he died intestate.
"On application it is ordered by the Court that Samuel R. Holcomb be and is hereby appointed administrator of the Estate of Jordan Manring, late of the said county of Gallia deceased and Thereupon the said Samuel R. Holcomb came before the Court and accepted said appointment being being thereupon duly sworn gave bond with William Ewing and Samuel Summers, his securities, to the acceptance of the Court in the penal sum of $3,000 conditioned according to law. Ordered that George Eagle Thomas Cherington & Richard Kerr after being duly sworn do appraise the personal Estate of Jordan Manring late of said county Deceased.
And afterwards to wit, on the 28 day of February 1838, the said appraisers filed in the Court office of said Court the following Inventory and Appraisement of the goods and chattels belonging to the estate of Jordan Manring Deceased made this 10th day of January 1838, the value annexed to each article as follows, to wit:

One note on Jordan Manring the 2nd dated 20 Mar 1837, due the 1 January 1841 for the sum of 500.00
One do for the sum of 700.00 due 18 April 1844
One do for the sum of 300.00 On 20 March 1848
One note on William Richardson due 1st June 1838 for the sum of 25.00
Total Due: $1525.00

Property set off to widow
Inventory and value of property set off to the Widow of Jordan Manring deceased for her support for one year, to wit:
Two wheat Stacks Supposed to contain forty Bushels Valued at 32.00
Four head of Fat Hogs valued at 10.00
All the garden and other since in possession of said family valued at 3.50
And 12 dollars in cash, 12.00
In all -- $57.50

It is hereby certified that the hold amount of sale of the personal property belonging to the estate of said deceased sold this 10th day of January 1838 amounts to the above mentioned sum of two hundred eighty three dollars and seventy eight cents, there is, however, some personal property yet remains in the hands of the administrator unsold for want of bidders, which when sold will cause another and separate return.
