                                           Mary A.(Mae) Shambo

Miss Mary A.(Mae) Shambo, 89, a former resident of Swartz Towers, died Friday January 1, 1993 at Mercy Health and Rehab Center.

Ms. Shambo was a life long Auburn resident, a graduate of Auburn Academic High School and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Syracuse, Class of 1926. In her professional career, she was employed at the former Mercy Hospital, the Auburn Convalescent Home and retired from Auburn Memorial Hospital after 39 years of service with that facility.

She was a communicant of Holy Family Church, a member of its Rosary and Sacred Heart Society, the Auburn Senior Citizens and St. Joseph's Nurses Alumni Association.

Surviving are two sisters: Agnes Flynn of Auburn and Sister Agnes Paula of the Sisters of St. Joseph's of Rochester, five nephews: Louis Shambo and his wife Jane, Thomas Cunningham, John Cunningham and his wife Marion all of Auburn. Robert Flynn and John Flynn Sr. and his wife Catherine both of Syracuse; two nieces: Nadine Dwyer and her husband Paul of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Eileen Hughes and her husband Lloyd of Auburn; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews and a very close friend Doris Stears of Auburn.

Burial will be private in St. Joseph's Cemetery and a memorial mass will be in Holy Family Church at a later date. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Farrell Funeral Service's, Inc.
