Of Zachariah and Eleanor's children, we have little to help date Mary's birth. She was the second daughter mentioned, as Mary Clingan, by her mother's will in 1811. The 1790 census listed 4 females (wife and 3 daughters), so she was born before then. But the 1800 census listed only 2 young females--one 16-25 (probably Rachel) and one 10-15 (probably Eleanor). Where is Mary?

There is a marriage record for Mary Offutt and James Clingan dated 6 Mar 1810, and we find Mary Clingan age 26-44 on the 1820 census. After that Mary Clingan apparently married Henry Crosby on 8 Nov 1826.

The only other trace of her was the 1850 census of Frederick Co MD with Henry Crosby (68?, farmer, $600 real estate b. VA) and Mary (70, b MD). If so, Mary was born about 1780.
