Emigrated with sisters Ann and Jane to join sister Ellen in Philadelphia. Mary married Daniel Grier Black (b. Ireland). Only child, Mary Jane Black b. 1852 in Marietta, Oh. Mary Jane corresponded with her cousin Sarah Vincent who lived in Jerseyville, Illinois. Family settled in Welch, Minn. in 1855 on land they homesteaded. Cemetery records show Mary and husband buried at County Line Cemetery in Welch (Goodhue Co.) MN. 1880 census lives with son in law Richard Daly in Welch, 1880 census gives birth year as 1828.

A letter written by Mary Marks Black laments the fact that she has lost touch with her sister AnJane. In reality, AnJane was living in Iowa.
