Family oral history says that Mary and her daughter Margaret emigrated to the US. A ship record has not been found. 1870 US Census shows her living with daughter Margaret Knapp and family in Jersey County IL. AGe 56 in census means b. 1814?

Jersey County Democrat, February 11, 1886 says: MRS. O'BRIEN, mother of MRS. WM. KNAPP, died Friday morning of last week. Her remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.

Catholic Burial/sacrament record shows that she died 4 Feb 1886 and is listed as Mary O'Brien Walsh so she may have remarried. Record is for St. Michaels church and their accompanying cemetery at Beltrees. No tombstone found. Burial record says she died at age 71 years and 10 1/2 months.
