Mrs. Mary Ann Grobel passed away Tuesday, October 1, at the home of her daughter, Olive. after a lingering illness. She was 84 years old. Funeral services were held at the church in Minneapolis with a burial service at Oaklawn cemetery here Friday afternoon with Rev. T. A. Hoff of Decorah and Rev. H. M. Normann of Cresco, officiating.

Mary Ann Iverson was born July 25, 1851 at Leland, Ill. and came via prairie schooner to their home three miles north of Mabel Minn. She was married to Peter L. Grobel, a tailor, at the home of her grandfather by Rev. O. Sheie on February 2, 1873. They came to Cresco and made their home on Second Avenue West, and were among the organizers of the First Lutheran church of Cresco.

At the death of her husband. Mrs. Grobel was left with a family of five children and she faced this hardship bravely, working hard to support her family. Later, her daughter Olive. who taught school, purchased a home in Minneapolis, where Mrs. Grobel spent the remainder of her life.

She is survived by four children, Olive of Minneapolis; Mamie, Mrs. Robert Wiegand of Albert Lea, Minn.; Leonard of Albert Lea; and Edward of Spokane, Wash. Also survived by three brothers, Albert Iverson of Mabel, Minn.; Joseph of Billings, Montana; Daniel of Ellensburg, Wash.; and three sisters. Mrs. Josephine Swenson of Des Moines, Mrs. Christian Kirkwold of Glenwood, Minn., and Miss Emilia Iverson of Ellensburg, Wash.
