[marta_nordbo.ged] Pioneer Railroad Man, Cresco Native, Dies in Oregon Cresco residents have learned of the death of Edward M. Grobel, native Cresco resident and retired trainmaster for the Milwaukee railroad, who died September 14 in a Spokane, Washington, hospital. Mr. Grobel, who was born in Cresco, October 15, 1883, was married to Bessie Barker in Cresco in 1907. He lived in Spokane for 43 years. He was a member of the Spokane Pioneer club and the Spokane Westminster Congregational church. Surviving Mr. Grobel are his wife, and two daughters, Mrs. Winifred Root of Morro Bay, California, and Olive Grobel of New York City, and a son, Dr. Kendrick Grobel of Nashville, Tennessee. There are also two sisters, Olive Grobel and Mrs. Mayme Wiegard, both of Albert Lea, Minnesota. -Cresco Plain Dealer, September 26, 1962 References
