Facts and Events
Mary Ingram was baptised on 28th July 1738 at Grantham in Lincolnshire, daughter of Margaret Ingram, formerly Stevens, and her husband Joseph Ingram, a miller. The family lived at Manthorpe, a hamlet to the north of the town. Mary's father died in 1762, when Mary was 23 years old. The following year, on 21st April 1763, Mary married a miller called Thomas Lowe. Mary and Thomas went on to have seven children baptised at Grantham between 1764 and 1777, although the youngest died when only two years old. In 1774 Mary's uncle, John Ingram, died. He was also a miller at Manthorpe and owned land there and at nearby Great Gonerby and Londonthorpe. He left money and land in his will for Mary's children. Mary's mother died in 1779. Mary died in 1792, aged 53, being buried at Great Gonerby on 12th February 1792, although she had been living at Manthorpe immediately before her death. Thomas survived her by thirteen years.
