Mary Collop was baptised on 14th May 1738 at Stotfold in Bedfordshire, daughter of Elizabeth Collop, formerly Tickle, and her husband John Collop.

On 10th October 1757, aged nineteen, Mary married Thomas Allen. They went on to have seven children baptised at Stotfold between 1758 and 1766, including twins in 1766. Mary died shortly after having the twins; they were baptised on 31st May and she was buried just over three weeks later on 24th June. She was 28 years old. The twins did not long outlive their mother, and both were buried during July. Thomas survived Mary by 26 years.
