This Martha married 1st Thomas Sheriff/Shreve. Soon after his death she married Thomas Hazard as his second wife. She thirdly married Lewis Hues, probably in early 1691, who ran off after six or seven weeks taking a large part of her estate.

   The second wife of Thomas Hazard, Martha, whom he married in 1675, was the widow of Thomas Sheriff.

   1652 4 March 1652 PCR 3:6
   At this Court, Holman was warned by the constable of Plymouth that "he henceforth doe no more frequent or com at the house of [Thomas Shrive], nor that the wife of the said Sherive doe frequent the house or companie of the said Holman", or they will be punished. Apparently, Holman had been visiting Martha Shrive "at vnseasonable times of the night, and at other times, which [were] feared to bee of ill consequence".

   Holman was presented for drunkeness. He was cleared by the Court by paying the fine. Also at this meeting, the Court made a memorandum that if Holman and Martha Shrive continue to keep each other's company, they will suffer corporal punishment by whipping.

   Martha's second husband, Thomas Hazard made a declaration (just after her husband's death 1675, May 29): "This is to satisfy all men, whom it may any way concern, whereas there is a promise of matrimony betwixt Thomas Hazard and Martha Sheriff, yet I the foresaid Thomas Hazard do take the said Martha Sheriff for her own person, without having anything to do with her estate or with any thing that is hers" &c.
