LAST SAVE ONE OF AN OLD FAMILY
Mrs. James B. Davis, 78, Leaves Husband and Three Children
    FUNERAL MONDAY
Life-Long Resident of Clay Township One of Fifteen Children
The last save one of the fifteen children of Patrick and Lydia Ewing, pioneer settlers of Decatur county, passed away at 8 a.m. today when Mrs. James B. Davis was called by death at her home in Burney. Martha C. (Lina) Ewing was born on the old Ewing homestead five miles west of Greensburg in 1848 and was married to Mr. Davis in 1872. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Davis lived for ten years in Jackson township, moving from there in 1883 to the Turner farm in Clay township. About fifteen years ago they retired from the farm and located in Burney which has since been their home. For 54 years this couple went down life's journey together. They were blessed with two sons and a daughter: George W. and William of near Burney and Mrs. Della Hanks at home. There are two granddaughters: Crystal Davis and Mary Hanks. Besides the husband who has been in ill health for some time, the sons, daughter and granddaughters, the deceased leaves a number of newphews and nieces and one brother, Morgan J. Ewing, of Sheldon, Illinois. Morgan J. Ewing is the only survivor of this remarkable pioneer Decatur county family. The other members in the order of their ages were: Mrs. Sarah J. King, Mrs. Mary Howard, Mrs. Eliza King, Joshua, Abel and Putnam triplets; Robert, Cortez, Samuel, Mrs. Lydia Barclay, James K., George M., Mrs. Martha C. Davis, Mrs. Alice Hiner. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. E.E. Young, pastor of the Burney Methodist church, Monday at 10 a.m. and burial will be in South Park.
