Eckford deKay reports her obituary from the Mineola Monitor, Mineola, Texas newspaper: "Mrs. Martha B. Cage (nee Eckford) died at the home of her son, Geroge A. Cage, Nov. 12. Mrs. Cage was born in Huntsville, Alabama, Feb. 1, 1820. She professed religion at the age of 13 and was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for 45 years. We tender our heartfelt sympathy to her sons and daughter in this, the loss of their best friend, whose place can never be filled in this world. May she rest in peace in the home of the blessed."
