Andrew Buchanan of Drumpelier married Marion MONTGOMERIE of Bourtrehill (Burke's landed gentry, 2001) . They married in 1723 (Burke 2001). Andrew was chr 29jan1691 at Glasgow (Vital Records). Andrew and Marion married maybe 30jan1723 at Glasgow (Latter Day Saints). Andrew was a Virginia merchant, Dean of Guild, 1728-29, provost of Glasgow 1740-41 (Old Glasgow Exhibition), and one of the founders of the Ship Bank (Provosts of Glasgow). Marion was called Jane in Paterson’s History of Cty of Ayr (Provosts of Glasgow). Jane Montgomerie (b. 11dec1711), daughter of James Montgomerie (d. 1734) of Pearston and Thirdpart (at Skelmolie, Largs, Ayrshire) and Mary Simpson, and sister of Patrick Montgomerie of Boutriehill (b. 1701), married Andrew Buchanan of Drumpellier (Genealogical history of the family of Montgomery, by T.H. Montgomery, 1863). Andrew Buchanan, merchant, late Provost of Glasgow, d. there 28dec1759 (Public Advertiser). Andrew d. 1759 and was bur in Ramshorn churchyard (Provosts of Glasgow). A portrait of Andrew Buchanan of Drumpellier (1691-1759) was lent to Old Glasgow Exhibition by Sir David Carrick-Buchanan, KCB, of Drumpellier.

Andrew Buchanan married (1) Marion (b. 11dec1711, bur 31may1743), daughter of James Montgomery of Pearston and Thirdpart, who had 2 sons and 4 or 5 daughters; Andrew married (2) Elizabeth Binning (d. 6nov1782, Edinburgh), who had no children (Provosts of Glasgow).
