Marie Anne Scherno was born as one of seven children in the Moselle, Lorraine, region of France, on the 13th July 1900 to Edouard Scherno and Francoise Blaise. Marie lived with her family in Kuhberg, Dabo near Schaeferhof.

After the war when Marie was 18 she married Florent Lehrer on the 16th August 1920 in Dabo, Moselle, Lorraine, France. Florent and Marie had 3 children. It is highly likely that Marie and Florent had known each other for many years, not only did they grow up in the same area but the Lehrer family owned the timbermill and her father's occupation was a lumberjack.

After Florent's death, Marie re-partnered with Fredrique Buchmann who had 3 children from his previous marriage, to a woman whose maiden name was Lerch.

On the 6th January 1974, aged 73 Marie passed away in Bas Rhin, Alsace, France.
