Name

Name is Maria Louisa Wallis. Source is Emelia's 1888 birth registration. NOTE: In a number of documents her second name is spelled incorrectly as Louise. The 1817 Quebec census is quite clear: Maria Louisa Wallis. She was called Maria.

1855 - Maria Louisa Wallis was born in September 1855 in Quebec, Canada. Source is 1901 Census of Canada and her 1881 marriage registration. NOTE: Have been unable to find her Quebec birth registration.

1861 - On December 19, 1861, Maria Louisa (spelled Lewisa) Wallis was baptized in the Methodist Church. Source is Quebec baptism records.

1871 - In May, 1871, Maria Louisa 17 was living on the farm in the Township of Elgin, Huntingdon District, Quebec with her parents, HENRY Bull Wallis 52, farmer, born in Quebec, Methodist, English origin, and MARY Elizabeth Wallis 45, born in Quebec, and her siblings: Ephraim ELIAS 22, John Theodore 15, Mary Emelia 13, George Griffin 10 and RACHEL Matilda 4. Henry Wallis (incorrectly spelled Wallice) 82, lodger, born in Quebec, English background, was part of the household. Source is 1901 Census of Canada.
