Margaret may have died prior to 1790 or maybe James and she were divorced. In any event, James remarried in 1790. It is not known for sure that her given name was Henry, but Shirley Drain [in an] Oct. 27, 1998 letter guessed the name may have been Henry and that it may have been the same Henry family as Patrick Henry.

From a separate source recently, I will document it when I find my notes, it is recorded that her name was indeed Henry and that she was a first cousin of Patrick Henry. If this is true, her father would have been either the Rev. Patrick Henry, born about 1707 in Aberdeen, Scotland or William Henry, born about 1709 in Aberdeen, Scotland. The parents of these two men were Alexander Henry and Jean Robertson.

Yes, I was going to tell YOU about the Henry theory. I've begun to research this, but am not getting very far. He might have met/married her in York, PA.

Norma Locke of Wichita, Kansas possessed a notebook that had belonged to Donald Peden. In the notebook was a letter written by Ida Enlow Price to Donald's father years ago. It says: "Rebecca Driver was a granddaughter of James Henry, who came to Vriginia from Scotland. There were two boys, James and Willian, who came to Virginia from Scotland."

From Jim Henry

My data on James Henry's family comes mainly from family tradition, confirmed in the case of the grandsons William, John and Robert (sons of James Jr.) by Rev. War records (Botetourt Co., VA).. (Both William and John state that their father was James Henry Jr and that they were born in Berkeley Co. VA and moved to Botetourt Co., VA before the Rev. War started in their 1832 Pension Application Papers which are on file in the National Archives). However, mother listed three girls in the family. She only knew the approximate ages (i. e. one was younger than James but older than Samuel, another was younger than Harry and the third was the baby). She did not know the names of any of the female children and so far I have not found any record which confirms the name of even one of them. So the data you see in RootsWeb is about all that I have on the females. The James Henry in my data base certainly had two sons named James and William, but only two boys and one girl are listed in the passenger list when he came to Virginia (no names or ages). The boys are believed to be James Jr. and Samuel, and William was then believed to be born later in VA, but of course it is possible but somewhat unlikely that William and Samuel are interchanged. I have attached a PDF file of the family group (and while some errors and omissions are probable, this is all I currently know about them).

However there were quite a few Henry's who came to VA from Scotland between 1650 and 1740 and without further confirmation of dates and places it is difficult to say whether this is the correct Henry family or not.
